Two neighborhood residents attended a meeting last evening where the Bloomington Public Works Director spoke about the proposed changes to trash pickup. According to the email received today [click here to view] the changes are almost certain to occur.

The Board released a DRAFT of the minutes of the recent Board meeting. Highlights of the meeting include: election of officers for 2017, financial report, selection of lawn care vendor for 2017, report of the Bylaws and CC&Rs Committee, and an update on the Drainage Committee. Earlier this week neighborhood resident Carol Wise attended two evenings of training provided by City Forester Lee Huss. As a result she is now one of several volunteer City of Bloomington Tree Rangers. Any questions about trees? Please consider Carol as a resource.
During the training Carol learned that Lee Huss will be trimming the trees along Countryside Lane later this spring. Carol says, “We are so fortunate to have this certified arborist do that for us. We won’t even have to clean up the branches he removes. Several days following the pruning, the trimmings will be picked up and taken away by the City.”
The north side of Sunflower Gardens, Countryside Lane, is part of many school bus routes. For safety reasons the City makes an effort to keep those streets from getting overgrown.
The next HOA Board Meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm on Tuesday May 9, 2017, at the home of Don Westerhaus, 1437 Countryside Lane.

Sanitation Modernization Advisory Committee Releases Final ReportBloomington, Ind. – In response to Mayor John Hamilton’s request, the Sanitation Modernization Advisory Committee has released its final report.
The committee has recommended that the City continue to move forward seeking the necessary approvals from the City of Bloomington Utilities Service Board and the City of Bloomington Common Council. If the implementation is approved, an automated service delivery model at the Sanitation Division would include automated collection, volume-based pricing, wheeled carts for each household and weekly single stream recycling. Trash stickers would no longer be required if the recommendations are adopted.
